Lakmé Lever’s CEO, Pushkaraj Shenai revealed that in their second phase, which launched in December 2019, they switched to e-bills, implemented waste segregation, switched to biodegradable consumables, introduced glass bottles and added purifying indoor plants as well. Additionally, they planted 40,000 trees to offset the total carbon footprint of 69 salons through electricity consumption in 20 years. In 2018, the salon took steps towards its network-wide sustainability initiative by making small changes to their operations-like switching to LED lighting, installing water-saving nozzles and maintaining optimal AC temperatures in their spaces. Here, we take a closer look at what salons are doing to push the pace of mindfulness and sustainability in their practises. Collective little steps may not seem enough, or might feel too slow, but it’s better than staying in the same place you were yesterday.
